The planeswalker format finally has enough mass removal spells (each is restricted) to support a UW control deck based on the traditional idea of removal combined with card draw. It uses eight first striking 2/1's and emeria angel to control the board and finish the opponent. This appears to be the best deck in the format at the moment.

However, this deck is weak to decks with howling mines, since they provide the opponent with card draw of their own, while severely decreasing the value of the UW player's card draw. The vampire deck in this video resolves an early howling mine, producing an endless stream of threats.

Because of the howling mine, play is much more tempo oriented, and card advantage doesn't really matter. Some of my resulting plays, such as countering a disfigure that targets a youthful knight, may seem strange, but they make sense in this context.

Toward the end of the game, my opponent resolves a Malakir Bloodwitch, bringing my life total down to 2 while his was at 26. At the end of the game, my library contains only 1 card. :)
