Here's a nice ride I did yesterday from Bella Vista Metro Station to Kellyville Metro Station. The ride includes some of my favourite paths and trails in The Hills District of Sydney. The route features some amazing bridges, and follows several creeks and waterways and scenic locations.

For those wanting to try this ride, start at the Bella Vista Metro Station and follow most of the Greenway paths and bridges from Bella Vista to Beaumont Hills. The trail crosses some great flyover bridges over busy roads and climbs up to the hilltop pond at Turkeys Nest Reserve which has extensive views of the district and was originally part of a former dairy farm (note the milk pails as you ride by). The path then deviates from the regular Greenway route to follow the best parts of the Smalls Creek Cycleway all the way from Beaumont Hills to Mile End Road Rouse Hill cutting through untamed bushland in places where the smell and sounds of the Aussie bush and birdlife is amazing.

Cross over the Caddies Creek Weir (avoid this if it is in flood - you can ride on either side of the creek). The route takes you past three historic trust houses (Aberdoon House, Rouse Hill Estate, and Mungarie House). If you do the Rouse Hill Regional Park loop section you will need to dismount at Windsor road and cut across a 33m gravel path to access the Regional Park trails. There is some fairly mild gravel riding in places once you are in the park. You won't be disappointed as the loop goes through parts of second ponds creek and has some amazing Equestrian trails at the top of the hill cut into the paddocks behind Rouse Hill Estate. On the way back to Kellyville Metro Station the ride goes through Rouse Hill Town Centre and passes by The Local Shed Cafe at Mungarie House which both have good coffee and dining options. Follow the Caddies creek paths to complete the ride at Kellyville Metro Station.
