Turkey Builds A New $10 Billion Humanoid Robot Manufacturing Plant, Earning Global Admiration
In central Anatolia, Turkey, Akin Robotics, a subsidiary of Akinsoft, has officially inaugurated the country's first robot manufacturing plant. This facility marks a significant advancement in automation technology, with the mass production of humanoid robots capable of performing various tasks across multiple sectors such as entertainment, healthcare, gastronomy, education, tourism, advertising, and broadcasting. Designed and assembled entirely in Turkey, Akinsoft's family of robots consists of more than 120 models, all integrated with advanced technologies like audio processing, voice recognition, Internet-based odor detection, and facial recognition. These robots are not only capable of promoting products in shopping malls or distributing flyers at fairs, but they can also assist as nurses in hospitals or perform escort duties at bus stations and airports. One of the key highlights is their ability to self-navigate and self-charge, allowing them to operate efficiently and continuously without frequent human intervention. New features, such as voice recognition, enable the robots to provide detailed service information, from guiding customers to their tables to retrieving trays from specific ones. Not limited to customer service in cafes and restaurants, these robots are also being deployed in factories to perform routine production tasks and even in hospital settings. These diverse functions open up new prospects for the automation industry in Turkey, positioning the country as a new hotspot on the global technology map. The plant was built in just 1.5 years, demonstrating Akinsoft's swift and efficient project execution capabilities.
In the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution gradually transforming the face of global manufacturing, a factory in Dongguan City, China, has garnered attention by replacing 90% of its workforce with robots, achieving an astonishing productivity increase of up to 250%. This shift is not merely a technological upgrade but also a testament to the power of automation in the modern era. Previously, the factory employed 650 workers, but now only 60 remain, primarily responsible for maintaining and overseeing the robot system. These "metal colleagues" have significantly reduced the product error rate from 25% to just 5%, demonstrating a clear improvement in both quality and work efficiency. This not only substantially enhances production efficiency but also minimizes waste and boosts the company's profits. The widespread adoption of robots in manufacturing is gradually becoming a trend among many businesses in southern China. Over 1,500 companies have already started or are planning to replace human labor with automated machines. Forecasts suggest that by 2025, about one-third of the jobs currently performed by humans will be transferred to robots and other smart devices. However, this profound change has not come without consequences. Many Chinese workers have lost their jobs and are dissatisfied with the shift, leading to strikes and protests demanding rights and social justice. This highlights a major challenge in the age of automation: how to balance technological progress with social responsibility towards workers.
