Описание к видео Penny Surface Tension

Have you ever tried the classic penny and water drop challenge? It’s an awesome way to see science in action right before your eyes! You might think that only a few drops of water could sit on the tiny surface of a penny, but guess what? You can actually fit way more than you’d expect. And it’s all thanks to a super cool force called **surface tension**.

Water is made up of tiny molecules that love to stick together. They hold onto each other because of a property called *cohesion*. Think of it like water molecules giving each other a big group hug. Now, the molecules in the middle of the water are surrounded on all sides by other molecules, so the pulls balance out. But the molecules at the surface? They don’t have any water above them, so they cling extra tightly to the neighbors beside them. That “tight cling” is what creates surface tension.

So when you drop water onto a penny, surface tension pulls those molecules together, forming a dome-like shape on top. It looks almost like the water is wearing an invisible skin! Instead of spilling off right away, the water molecules keep hugging each other and piling up, drop by drop. The penny turns into a stage for this amazing balancing act.

Eventually, though, gravity wins. Once the dome gets too big, the force of the water’s weight overcomes surface tension, and the water spills over the edge of the penny. But until then, you get to see how strong surface tension really is!

So next time you’re looking for some simple science fun, grab a penny, some water, and a dropper. Count how many drops you can add before the dome breaks—because remember, *Science is wherever you are!*
