Classic TV Theme: Van der Valk (Stereo)

Описание к видео Classic TV Theme: Van der Valk (Stereo)

We've had a request for more classic UK tv themes, so here's one of our favorites. 'Van der Valk' (1972) was based on a series of novels by Nicolas Freeling. A cynical, insightful 'commissar' (police detective), he solved murders in and around Amsterdam. Barry Foster (the tie murderer in Hitchcock's 'Frenzy') led a predominately British cast. The series had an irregular schedule: two seasons in the early 70s, a third in 1977, then two more in the 90s. The show's theme was plucked from the DeWolfe music library and became a surprise hit in the UK. 'Eye Level' was composed by Jack Trombey (aka for Dutch composer Jan Stoeckart) and played by the Simon Park Orchestra.
0:00 Season one: The theme is edited down from the DeWolfe original. We have extended it a bit over the logos so you can hear more of it, and we used the stereo mix.
2:51 Season four: In the 1990s revival both the opening visuals and the theme were freshened up.
You can hear the complete original theme on music streaming services under the title Eye Level (Original theme from "Van der Valk"). On Apple music it is here -   / eye-level-original-theme-from-van-der-valk...
