AT-VM95E vs. AT-VM95SH - Audio Technica Stylus Comparison

Is the AT-VMN95SH Shibata stylus worth the upgrade over the 95E elliptical stylus? And how much of an improvement can we hear? Here’s a test comparing the two styluses.

Equipment used:
Turntable - AT LP120x
Amplifier - Yamaha A-S501
Preamp - Schiit Mani 2

My findings:
- Lower Noise floor on 95SH
- Better Stereo Separation on 95SH
- Deeper bass on 95SH
- High frequencies marginally less harsh on 95SH
- 95SH has a longer rated lifespan

In summary, the stylus was worth the upgrade on my system using vintage JBL studio monitors. If your you are using a budget amplifier or speakers, the AT-VM95E is adequate and you may not notice a difference.
