I live in Indiana, where the winters are below freezing so I can’t keep her outside all year round unfortunately but I make it work!

Water 💦: I water when the leaves are a bit more moldable and the soil is bone dry. She can go long periods without water.

Soil mix: my typical succulent mix is a combo of half succulent/cactus potting soil and half bonsai jack gravel.

💡indoors: If it’s growing too long and leggy, that tells you it’s not getting enough light. She can sit right underneath a grow light or your brightest window (at least 750 foot candles if measuring with a light meter) for at least four to six hours of direct sunlight a day.

Outdoors, she lives a space that gets direct sunlight for 2 hours a day but shade the rest of the time. Aloe can absolutely get sunburned and if they ever become stressed, they turn gray! They can turn back to green once they’re adjusted but something to be mindful of.
