Bill goes hiking in Pascoag, RI. for October Maitake mushrooms. One Maitake in hand, & 100’ away on a hillside…..a patch of “shrimp of the woods” or “Entoloma abortivum” (aborted entoloma)! Some agree they kinda taste like shrimp 🦐 They are actually a combination of two species. Shrimp of the woods fungi parasitize the honey mushroom to form an odd, lumpy, white, popcorn-looking edible treat!
