Is jaggery (ಬೆಲ್ಲ) really healthier than sugar (ಸಕ್ಕರೆ)? 🤔 Many people use sugar every day without knowing the difference between these two sweeteners. If you care about natural health, Ayurveda, and a healthy lifestyle, understanding what you eat is very important.

ಮೊದಲು, ಬೆಲ್ಲ (Jaggery) ಒಂದು natural sweetener ಆಗಿದ್ದು ಇದರಲ್ಲಿ molasses ಅಂಶ ಇರುತ್ತದೆ. This molasses contains important minerals like magnesium, iron, calcium, and small amounts of fiber, which support overall body health. ಅದಕ್ಕಾಗಿಯೇ ಆಯುರ್ವೇದದಲ್ಲಿ ಬೆಲ್ಲವನ್ನು ಬಹಳ ಉಪಯುಕ್ತವಾದ ಆಹಾರ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾರೆ.
ಆದರೆ ಸಕ್ಕರೆ (refined sugar) ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದರೆ, ಇದು ಹೆಚ್ಚು processing ಆಗಿರುವುದರಿಂದ ಇದರಲ್ಲಿ nutrients ಇರೋದಿಲ್ಲ. It mainly provides empty calories, which means it gives energy but no essential nutrients for the body.
ಇನ್ನೊಂದು ಮುಖ್ಯ ವಿಷಯ ಎಂದರೆ ಬೆಲ್ಲದಲ್ಲಿರುವ carbohydrates complex ಆಗಿರುತ್ತವೆ, ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅದು ದೇಹದಲ್ಲಿ energy release ಅನ್ನು ನಿಧಾನವಾಗಿ ಮಾಡುತ್ತದೆ. While jaggery can still increase blood sugar levels if taken excessively, moderate consumption with a balanced diet can be a better natural option compared to refined sugar.
