The Birth of Archie | First Time Parents Birth Big Baby

Sometimes our birth plans don't go according to...well...planned. When a birth center birth unexpectedly turned into a hospital birth...this family made the best of their situation. Nina's water had been broken for a long time at this point with consistent contractions and after laboring in the tub for a long while, the decision was made to get an epidural and get some much needed rest. Things were going steady...but not quickly so I left to go home for a bit. Turns out, with everyone gone, contractions picked up and Nina was complete and ready to meet her baby! The doula and I rushed back and made it just in time for little Archie to make his way earthside! I had a feeling that little Archie would possibly be on the bigger side from how cute and round Nina's belly was (not a scientific thought process by any means). He was weighed and was 9 lbs 13 oz! Everyone was shocked to say the least! But this was a beautiful reminder that bodies DO work and we CAN birth big babies!
