Bausatzbesprechung: CAMs Vickers 6-ton Type B early im Maßstab 1/35

Da es mittlerweile auch von eher seltenen oder ungewöhnlichen Fahrzeugen gute und aktuelle Bausätze gibt, lohnt es sich zusehends mehr, die etwas ausgetretenen Pfade zu verlassen und mal einen Blick über den Tellerrand zu wagen. Es gibt nämlich mehr als nur Tiger, Panther, T-34 und Sherman!
Der chinesische Hersteller Combat Armor Models, oder kurz CAMs, bedient einige dieser seltenen Themen, auch wenn er zurzeit nur zwei Grundbausätze im Angebot hat, nämlich den VCL light amphibious tank und den Vickers 6-ton, die beide in mehreren Varianten angeboten werden.
Gerade der Vickers 6-ton ist historisch und technisch betrachtet ein sehr signifikantes Fahrzeug und im Maßstab 1/35 gab es bisher nur einen sehr alten und nicht sehr schönen Bausatz davon.
Der vorliegende Bausatz macht einen sehr guten Eindruck auf mich und zeigt sich fast auf Augenhöhe mit den wesentlich bekannteren Bausatzherstellern. Die feinen Details an der Wanne und dem Turm wissen zu überzeugen und auch das filigrane Fahrwerk ist sehr schön wiedergegeben. Eine Innenausstattung ist praktisch nicht vorhanden. Die Ketten kommen in Segmenten daher und sind völlig frei von Auswerfern. Auffällig ist, dass bei diesem Bausatz, ähnlich wie schon beim VCL, relativ viele Photoätzteile zu verarbeiten sind, die andere Hersteller mit einer Selbstverständlichkeit aus Plastik fertigen würden, bzw. diese Details gleich auf anderen Teilen integrieren würden. Hier scheint es wohl so zu sein, dass der Formenbau vom CAMs etwas einfacher gestrickt ist, man aber dennoch, mit einen gewissen Mehraufwand zwar, eine vergleichbare Detailfülle erreicht. Ich finde das nicht schlimm, sondern nur erwähnenswert.
Als Markierungsvarianten schlägt CAMs hier drei Fahrzeuge vor, die bei den Streitkräften Portugals, Thailands und Boliviens in den 1930ern und 1940ern im Einsatz standen.
CAMs bietet weitere Varianten des Vickers 6-ton als separate Bausätze an, deren Kaufpreise allerdings erheblich höher liegen können, als es bei dieser Variante der Fall ist. Die ist hierzulande für ungefähr 40€ zu haben, was die obere Grenze für das gebotene ist und somit noch in Ordnung geht. Es ist jedenfalls ein interessanter Bausatz eines wenig beachteten Fahrzeugs und wird seine Liebhaber finden.

Since we have access to fairly modern model kits of rare or unusual vehicles these days, it becomes more and more interesting to leave the well known paths and risk to have a look at other subjects as well. There are far more things out there than Tigers, Panthers, T-34s or Shermans!
The Chinese brand "Combat Armor Models", in short CAMs, deals with such rare subjects, although they currently only offer two base vehicles, namely the VCL light amphibious tank and the Vickers 6-ton, both are offered in several particular variants.
The Vickers 6-ton in particular is highly significant from a historic and technical point of view and in 1/35 scale we only had access to one old and pretty ugly kit before.
The kit we have a look at here has impressed me to an extend and is almost at the same level as the kits of better known brands. The fine details of the hull and turret are lovely and the quite filigree suspension is well reproduced. There is no interior detail, though. The tracks come in segments and don´t show any pin marks. It is striking, similar to the VCL kit, that we have to deal with quite a lot of photo-etched parts, which other brands would most likely make out of plastic or integrate into the overall kit layoutin a different way. It seems like the mold design of CAMs is a bit more simple, but the result is just as detailed, although this requires a bit of extra work. I don´t think this is a bad thing per se, i just feel like i should mention it.
CAMs suggests three painting and marking options, depicting each a vehicle of the Portuguese, Thai and Bolivian armed forces from the 1930s and 1940s.
CAMs offers further variants of the Vickers 6-ton, but their price tag can be much higher than the example i show here. This one costs here about 40€, which is the upper limit for what we get, so i think that is alright. It is certainly an interesting kit of a lesser known vehicle and will surely find its way into the posession of those modellers, who appreciate the subject.
