William "Bill" Johnson Slideshow of Life

Mr. William "Bill" Johnson was called to rest on July 20, 2024. He was born December 16, 1933, in Lexington, Kentucky, and proudly made D.C. home.

He is survived by his loving wife, Thelma Johnson; and was predeceased by his beloved wife and mother of his children Cynthia Johnson (1989). Loved by children, Stephanie White (Anthony) and Eric Johnson.

Bill graduated from 'THEE' Hampton Institute (University), served in the U.S. Army, obtained a master's degree from The National Graduate University, and taught civil engineering at Howard University. He dedicated 25+ years to civic engagement and community-wide preservation of D.C.

He was an active member of Asbury United Methodist Church, served as Chair of the Board of Trustees, sang in the Male Chorus, and held many leadership positions.

Mr. Johnson will lie in state at Asbury United Methodist Church, 926 11th Street NW, Washington, DC 20001, on Friday, August 2, 2024, from 10 a.m. until he celebrates life service at 11 a.m. Final resting place: Lincoln Memorial Cemetery, Suitland, MD. Services entrusted to
