Overview:
This project was done under the supervision and sponsorship of Iran’s National Elites Foundation. We aimed to design and make a wearable portable inertial sensor, mainly for rehabilitation purposes. This product won first place in the 3rd National Startup Competition in Rehabilitation Technologies in 2021, and we are establishing a startup corporation in the field of inertial sensors with the same team. These IMUs are attached to different body segments to measure the body kinematics, i.e., angular velocities and accelerations, which can be used in rehabilitation, sports, and the animation and game industry. We are currently working on quantitative assessment of patient activities and diagnosing movement disorders utilizing this device in rehabilitation. This wireless and portable device uses a Bluetooth connection to send angular velocity and acceleration signals and is compatible with laptops, smartphones, and tablets.
