Why I LOVE Havre de Grace, Maryland, And You Will Too!

Описание к видео Why I LOVE Havre de Grace, Maryland, And You Will Too!

Havre de Grace Maryland is a Small Town with some rich history located in Northeast Maryland where the Susquehanna River meets the head of the Chesapeake Bay.

Formerly known as Harmers Town, the area was frequented General Lafayette during the Revolutionary War. General Lafayette said it reminded him of a French sea port, and is credited for the town being incorporated under the name Havre de Grace (Harbour of Grace) in 1785.

Havre de Grace is also home to Concord Point Lighthouse, the oldest lighthouse in Maryland accessible to the public.

In 1789 Havre de Grace was one vote away from becoming the capitol of the United States. Residents today are grateful for that fateful vote, as it has allowed the city to maintain its quaint, small town charm.

During the War of 1812, Havre de Grace was attacked by the British and much of the city was burned to the ground. The French Style house on Union Avenue is said to be one of the few houses that survived the attack.

Another thing to love about Havre de Grace is the new Living Shoreline Project on Water Street that's transforming eroding sea walls and concrete along the waterfront area into a beautiful beachfront. The U-shaped beaches will naturally filter excess stormwater runoff before it gets to Chesapeake Bay.

Havre de Grace is also home to a variety of eclectic shops and restaurants to suit any taste.

Havre de Grace is truly a beautiful town and a fantastic place to live!
