Robert Smigel and Triumph, the Insult Comic Dog, come on to Breaking Bread with Tom Papa! Triumph reveals secrets about his life as a bachelor. Smigel talks Triumph hurting people’s feelings and getting the truths that no one else can. Smigel recounts the beginning of his comedy career, the start of youtube, The Dana Carvey Show, working with Lorne Michaels, and the legendary SNL 25th anniversary show. Tom and Smigel recount memories of growing up in New Jersey.

About Robert Smigel:
Robert Smigel is a writer, producer, actor and director known best for his Saturday Night Live “TV Funhouse” cartoon shorts and as the creator and voice of Triumph, the Insult Comic Dog, the foul-mouthed puppet who mercilessly mocks celebrities and others in the style of a Borscht Belt comedian. Triumph debuted on Late Night with Conan O’Brien, for which Robert served as the first Head Writer/Producer.

Robert is a cast member alongside Jason Schwartzman and Carol Kane in the film, Between The Temples, which will be released in theaters nationwide on August 23 by Sony Pictures Classics. The film premiered at Sundance in January and screened at Tribeca Festival in June to rave reviews. Watch Between The Temples in theaters now!

Robert recently released a live recording of the gameshow, Triumph the Insult Comic Dog’s Let’s Make A Poop, on YouTube. The show features contestants “Weird Al” Yankovic (who sings a duet with Triumph), Adam Savage and Rob Schneider, announcer Michael Winslow and appearances by Amber Ruffin, Thomas Lennon and Dave Hill. Tom Papa, a celebrated stand-up comedian with over 20 years in the industry, has made significant strides in film, television, radio, podcasts, and live performances. Notably, he's a regular on "The Joe Rogan Experience" and various late-night TV shows.
