C/U of the fat being skimmed off the top of the milk into a bucket. The "plunger churn" is demonstrated. Woman shows different parts of the churn to the camera. She then demonstrates the plunging technique for churning butter using this device. She is wearing clogs. Clock reads 12 o'clock. She churns away. Clock reads twenty past twelve. Woman pulls curds from the churn to show camera then tips the contents of the churn into a bucket through a piece of muslin. She then lifts this into another bucket where it is washed through the muslin. The curds are then pressed between two boards.

The muslin is taken off and two wooden paddles are used to shape the butter into pats. An "end-over-end churn" is demonstrated. This is a larger churn. Cream is put into the churn and a lid fixed on. The churn is then turned by a handle. The clock reads 1 o'clock. More churning ensues. At twenty past one the liquid is let out of the churn through a tap. The lid is then taken off and the curds brought out by means of a spoon. The curds are placed on a board and covered with muslin. A roller flattens the butter and the wooden paddles are used to make it into one large pat. A "power churn" is demonstrated. This is similar to the "end-over-end churn" but is turned by electricity. Clock reads 2 o'clock. At twenty past two the churn is emptied by two women. C/U of the curds. Woman lifts them out on to a table. Butter shaped and cut into pats. Children at a tea table cut pieces of butter and spread them on to bread. C/U of girls eating their bread and butter.
