While on our North Arizona / South Utah trip, we got the chance to drive the same 122 miles between gas stations while driving 50% on the highway and 50% offroad through the soft sands of the vermillion cliffs. This was a perfect opportunity to do a MPG comparison. We DON'T LEAVE IT UP TO THE MPG COMPUTERS, often times they're not accurate, instead we take the 122 miles distanced traveled and divide that by how many gallons we had to fill up on. I'm no expert, but I made this video to help people understand how overlanding modifications affect their vehicles fuel efficiency. Should you put a roof top tent on your vehicle? Are heavy steel bumpers really worth it? Maybe there's a certain vehicle you should or shouldn't be looking at. I may not get your question answered, but hopefully you'll have a better idea about how to modify your overlanding rig.
