Welcome to Chevy"s "ADVENTURE ACROSS AMERICA".
Currently, I am in Lanham, Maryland. Visiting Pauline Spanbauer
Pauline was born deaf and is a native user of American Sign Language, a third generation carrier.
She graduated in 1974 at Gallaudet University with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. She was the first Deaf U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer in the Philippines. In 1977, she was a co-author of Sign as You Speak. She was involved with so much, teaching ASL.
In 2007, Pauline taught ASL Poetry/ Storytelling as the Silent Weekend of the Northern Virginia Sign Language.
Pauline has two hearing-grown children, a son and a daughter, who are native users of ASL. She was a former member of the New York Deaf Theatre, The Deaf Dimensions, and the guest artist of the Wild Zapper. She taught ASL poetry, dance/movement, sign dance, and song interpretations.
Pauline has been an ASL Adjunct Professor at Gallaudet University since 2012 teaching ASL 1, 2, 3, and ASL Language Specialist since 2016
