Departures (Animenz arr.) - Guilty Crown ED1 [Piano]

Here is my performance of Animenz's Departures arrangement. Personally, this is probably my favorite arrangement of his, and learning it was really fun. There were so many sections I really loved and the jazzy elements were refreshing to play.

One of the reasons I adore this arrangement in particular is because of the imagery I get from the music. To me, this piece tells a story of a person moving forward from their past, with the final climax at 4:06. The warm yet bittersweet opening introduces us to them reflecting on what they had, the good and the bad. As the music reaches a climax at 2:40, I imagine them being internally conflicted with their reminiscent thoughts and this feeling intensifies even further until 3:13, where they finally are starting to be at peace with their past. Then, the key changes and so does the mood of the music. As their memories start to appear less and less, they are calmer and the music is gentler. However, a part of them still doesn't want to fully let go and that leads to our climax at 4:06 where everything is brought out and it leads to the somewhat chaotic-sounding coda at 4:48. Eventually, they find resolution just as the chord resolves at 5:12. Now, the initial theme emerges again but this time in E major instead of D major. The tempo is slowed down and the music slowly dies away as our character is finally at peace with their past.

Unfortunately, I think my phone's microphone had some issues at around 4:25 where there are some scratching sounds so I apologize about that.

Hope you guys enjoyed my interpretation of Animenz's Departures :)
