Bram Govaerts of the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT) introduces two trials on maize and wheat carried out in two different climates in Mexico using conservation agriculture and conventional farming methods. Govaerts presents his results for the two crops, in studies carried out on an irrigated wheat-based system, and a rain-fed highland system, in Obregon and El Batan respectively.

In this video, Govaerts demonstrates his results for maize and wheat in a semi-arid environment where Conservation Agriculture crops fared better than the controls that were farmed according to conventional methods.

This presentation was organized as a part of a learning event on conservation agriculture for climate change mitigation that was organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization’s programme on Mitigation of Climate Change in Agriculture (MICCA) and CA-CoP conservation agriculture community of practice in 2012.© FAO www.fao.org
