The Swiss General Strike of 1918

In November of 1918, a nation-wide general strike was proclaimed in Switzerland. After four years of hardship, the fear of a communist revolution clashed with a desire for better living conditions. Those tense three days almost led to a violent confrontation between the military and the protestors, but it famously didn’t. This video discusses the strike’s background, why it had to end and its consequences for Swiss society.
