A power play is an attempt to gain an advantage by showing that you are more powerful than another person.

Power plays happen at work a lot. While the dynamics may vary, every power play involves a person who affirms their power in harmful ways. They use negative emotions like shame, embarrassment, fear, or anger to make someone else feel smaller, all in the hopes of making themselves feel bigger.

Facts, we were never taught how to deal with power plays in the workplace. In this episode, I will be speaking with Dr Anne Marie Misoi (nee Githaiga) aka Babo. We discuss how to deal with this type of conflict because you can either fuel a power play or figure out how to move forward to create something better.
