Part 2 of the movie about Operation Varsity. Operation Plunder begins with a massive artillery barrage along the Rhine and the destruction of the town of Wesel by Lancaster bombers of the RAF. The 21 Army Group then crosses the river using a range of amphibious vehicles, such as the DUKW ('Duck') and Buffalo personnel carriers, as well as infantry assault boats. The air phase follows, with Horsa gliders towed to landing zones by Halifax and Stirling tugs and escorted by Spitfire Mk IXs. United States' C-47 Skytrains (Dakotas) transport troops to the dropzones from airfields in France, and the film shows interior shots of troops during the journey. The airborne and parachute phase is then carried out, and footage of gliders landing is shown. However, the ground footage of troops is from an earlier operation, Operation Market Garden, in Arnhem. There are also scenes of damaged USAAF C-47 Skytrains and a C-46 Commando crashing. Boeing B24J Liberators drop supplies to troops who have successfully taken the town of Hamminkeln, and prisoners are seen being captured. The film concludes with stock footage of 21 Army Group infantry racing across Germany, the surrender ceremony at Luneberg Heath, and the final meeting of British and Soviet troops.
