Oasis near the end of the Dig Out Your Soul tour with more festival gigs. Like in 2005, Oasis headline V Festival in Staffordshire, but unlike in 2005, this gig is special. Not because the gig itself is amazing, though there are highlights, this gig is famous because it's Oasis' last appearance as a band. This is the last Oasis gig, period.

The festival setlists are shorter than the massive July gigs like Eden Project, Heaton Park, or Wembley Stadium, but by only 3 songs. Instead of running for nearly 2 hours, these gigs run just around 100 minutes.

Liam's voice is shit, he's just shouting and not doing anything productive. No banter between the two Gallaghers either, just quickly going through each song and trying to end the night without a fight.

I think the crowd singing Don't Look Back In Anger's chorus one final time is so beautiful, it really makes you wanna tear up and cry. The crowd is unaware of the chaos that will unfold in the next week, but are singing along like Oasis will live forever. It really is the best moment of the show.

Oasis was scheduled to perform the following day at Chelmsford but cancelled as Liam contracted laryngitis. Noel stated it was a hangover, but Liam apparently sued for defamation, as Liam stated that he told everyone he had laryngitis. The band would head to Paris for Rock En Seine on the 28th of August, but then... The Fight.

Noel tells it like this: Liam had his clothing brand, Pretty Green, in Oasis tour programs, and Noel didn't like it at all. It then transitioned to Noel telling the press about Liam's apparent hangover. Liam was extremely pissed at Noel for lying to the press about Liam having a hangover, and was reading off journalists who were bad-mouthing Liam. Some exchanging of words, then Liam leaves the dressing room, not before throwing a plum at the wall.

It does not stop there. The Fight continues with Liam coming back into the dressing room and smashes Noel's Gibson ES-355 guitar.

Noel would leave the room and sit in a car and ruminate before the gig would eventually be cancelled, and Noel would later announce this now infamous quote: "It is with some sadness and great relief...I quit Oasis tonight. People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer."

Liam, says Noel was being a cunt, and decided to behave like a massive cunt, and left the band. That is as best as I can put it.

In the following years, both brothers would start new solo projects, and every few years, rumblings of a reunion would surface, only to be shot down by Noel's camp.

While this is all happening, Bloc Party, who were called "indie shit" by Oasis, was informed that Oasis cancelled, and had a bit of a go at the brothers, calling them "Inbred twins." That clip is on Youtube, as well as the moment Rock En Seine was informed Oasis would not be playing.

Will Oasis ever reunite? The answer is no. I personally don't see it. Both have become successful on their own, and Liam now headlining Knebworth, has proven that he doesn't need Noel anymore, and he hasn't in a long time. Noel has demonstrated since 2010 that he doesn't need Liam.

The absolute tragedy of Oasis splitting is Noel looking back and saying he'd finish the tour, which should've been done, and would've thought it out instead of leaving. He even says they could've still held together. I still think Noel would leave Oasis, however, as his patience with Liam was paper-thin and The Fight obviously didn't help.

As the anniversary of the release of "Time Flies... 1994-2009" comes up (14th of June), looking back at everything Oasis ever did and it's hard to say they weren't successful at becoming one of the most influential and most popular bands of the last ~30 years. We'll remember Oasis for their out-of-the-blue debut album Definitely Maybe, their sophomore masterpiece (What's The Story) Morning Glory?, The time Oasis flew too close to the sun with Be Here Now, studying The Masterplan, the comedown album of Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants, the surprise of Heathen Chemistry, the comeback of Don't Believe The Truth, and their final hurrah of Dig Out Your Soul. Each album had memorable tracks, with B-Sides as great as their A-Sides.
