Two years after the murders of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery and Breonna Taylor ignited a national reckoning with prevalent and systemic racism, on the Federal holiday of Juneteenth, we invite you to join us for a panel and discussion of what we have done to confront and reduce racism in academia, and what we can each do moving forward. This event is intended for everyone, from those who are already doing anti-racism work and want to get ideas for what more they can do, to those who need inspiration to make the first steps.

On June 10, 2020, Growing Up In Science held an anti-racism allyship workshop (https://www.cns.nyu.edu/events/growin...) where we discussed aspects of systemic racism that are most urgent/actionable, and concrete steps we plan to take to be an ally and practice anti-racism. Given recent events, now is a good time for accountability and renewed commitment to anti-racism in academia.

Panelists will share from their actions in the past two years, and we will invite participants to share what you have done — big or small — to combat racism in academia. The goal is to empower everyone to do more. We can all make a difference with our individual actions.
