Food/toy aggression in foxes is very common. Foxes are extremely territorial and aggressive when it comes to resources. This is something all fox owners learn once they finally adopt that first pet fox. Getting bit becomes second nature to us because, yes, it happens all the time. And then literally after an hour or so, they are back to being sweet and nice like it never happened. It is truly nuts. So the easiest way fox owners learn to not deal with their pet is simply by... not dealing with their pet. They lock them up in kennels and give them food and water and call it good until they die, or, they simply put it up for adoption and get rid of it.

It is fun watching cute videos of animals doing cute things. But people deserve to know the real risk of owning exotic pets. I mention in the video that I am definitely not a fox trainer so I am not perfect. But I have had success over the years with just being present and active in Charlies life. Over time he has learned to not be so threatened by my presence and has calmed down. If I were to ignore him for several months and not interact with him, then I guarantee that he would go back to his usual awful ways. So owning a pet fox is definitely a lot of work. It isn't a decision you should make lightly.

I enjoy posting the fun happy videos, and I know lately I've been showing Charlie's darker side, but I promise we will go back to posting fun videos of him as well. Its not all rain clouds and lightning with Charlie. He can be very sweet and nice and playful, you just have to watch out for his triggers.
