Selling your car privately? Here’s what you need to know.

Step one
Gather documents
As the seller, you'll need to gather and fill out some documents. You’ll need the certificate of title, and an odometer statement if the car is less than 10 years old, and You might need a rebuild from salvage disclosure.

Step Two
Bill of sale
After you have a serious buyer, the next step is to fill out a bill of sale. South Carolina doesn't actually require one, but its a google idea to have one just in case you have any legal problems in the future. Be sure to pay off any debt associated with the car as well.

Step three
Transfer title
Next, you'll need to transfer the title to it’s new owner. You’ll need to hand over the current title, have the bill of sale filled out if needed, and exchange payment.
