Cholera is transmitted through the faecal-oral route, but almost all cholera infections are water-borne. Houseflies are mechanical carriers from latrine or excreta defecated in the bush and sewage. To prevent : avoid eating food and fruit infested by houseflies; boil or treat water with bleaching powder or chlorine.
