Madeira - Ponta de São Lourenço - kleine Wanderung auf der östlichsten Spitze Madeiras

Die Ponta de São Lourenço ist eine Halbinsel im äußersten Osten von Madeira, einer portugiesischen Insel im Atlantik.
Beeindruckende Felsformationen, karge Vegetation, stetiger Wind und tolle Aussichten auf die Küste – all das macht das Kap Ponta de São Lourenço aus. An klaren Tagen kann man von hier bis zur Nachbarinsel Porto Santo schauen.

Start ist der Wanderparkplatz am Aussichtspunkt Baía d´Abra. Die Wanderung ist sehr leicht, die Wege gut präpariert, die Strecke ca. 8-10 km lang, je nachdem wie weit man läuft.
Auf dem Weg gibt es viele schöne Aussichtspunkte.

Nach 3 km erreicht man das Casa do Sardinha, ein 1905 erbautes Haus, wo man inzwischen Snacks und Getränke bekommt und auch Toiletten findet, 2017 war hier noch alles geschlossen.
Von hier geht es entweder zur höchsten Erhebung (Ponta do Furado - 176 m) der Ponta de São Lourenço gehen oder zum Steinstrand Praia das Sardinhas, gelegen in einer kleinen Bucht mit Bademöglichkeit.
Zurück geht es auf dem selben Weg.

The Ponta de São Lourenço is a peninsula in the far east of Madeira, a Portuguese island in the Atlantic.
Impressive rock formations, barren vegetation, steady wind and great views of the coast - all of this is what defines Cape Ponta de São Lourenço. On a clear day you can see from here to the neighboring island of Porto Santo.

The starting point is the hiking car park at the Baía d´Abra viewpoint. The hike is very easy, the paths are well prepared, the route is about 8-10 km long, depending on how far you walk.
On the way there are many beautiful viewpoints.

After 3 km you reach the Casa do Sardinha an, a house built in 1905, where you can get snacks, drinks, and you will also find toilets.
From here you either go to the highest elevation (Ponta do Furado - 176 m) of the Ponta de São Lourenço or to the rocky beach Praia das Sardinhas, located in a small bay with bathing facilities.
You return on the same way back to the parking lot.
