In the past, 2 separate “Acharyas” or Guru's were appointed by the Gods — 1 to coach for the “Devas” or for the Gods exclusively and another 1 to tutor for the “Daityas” or Demons in Hinduism and as per its Epics and texts.

So while “Brihaspati — Wikipédia” became the Guru for the “Devas” or Gods, the Teacher for the “Daityas” or Demons was “Shukra - Wikipedia” or “Shukracharya” !

Both of the Hindu Gods and Demons took birth from Sage Kashyapa as their Father “Kashyapa - Wikipedia” whose wives were “Aditi - Wikipedia” — Mother of the Gods in Hinduism and “Diti - Wikipedia” — Mother of the Demons in Hinduism, hence there was Competition and Fierce sibling rivalry between the two sets of children and both wanted to prove their Supremacy above the other.

So while “Shukracharya” tutored his Demonic disciples, he taught them a set of Knowledge which was completely contrary to the interests of the Gods and when “Brihaspati” taught the Gods, his set of Knowledge was Divine and hence it was by nature against the interests of the Demons at large.

Both of the Gods and Demons were always at loggerheads with each another and both groups strove to outperform and outclass the other in each and every field and department. There was fierce rivalry, despite both having the same Father (Kashyapa Sage) together.
