Surf fishing longboat key in the wintertime, just after Christmas. Sharks were everywhere in the water all week long. We were trying to catch pompano and whiting but they were not cooperating, so we focused on shark fishing instead. We are shark fishing for smaller baby sharks with traditional surf fishing gear. We are not trying to target larger sharks, just smaller sharks appropriate for the gear on hand. Fishing for sharks was a lot of fun and helped pass the time and keep the little one's entertained. Shark fishing is not something I do a lot of, but we decided to target what was biting.
