Stove Jack and Hot Tent - Part 2

Описание к видео Stove Jack and Hot Tent - Part 2

Making a hot tent stove jack for winter camping is not that difficult, all it takes are a few dollars and a little bit of time.
For me the hard part was sewing the completed stove jack into the tent as I am not the best at using a sewing machine. I did find that as I moved along and sewed more, it got easier and now I am at the point that there are a few different items I will be making for my outdoor endeavors.
In part-1 I made the stove jack using fiberglass cloth and high temp silicone sealant. Fiberglass on its own will not burn and the silicone which is also fire resistant, is used to waterproof the stove jack. The silicone I used is rated by the manufacturer to withstand a sustained temperature of 450 F and intermittent temps of 500 F.
To sew the jack in, I used a heavier 100% polyester thread and a size 16 needle. The type of thread is what is suggested by the folks at Bear Paw Wilderness Designs ( http://www.bearpawwd.com/ )for sewing in the stove jack the firm sells.
As I said, the sewing part was for me the most difficult. Not only are you dealing with all the material from a tent to move around but not having the sewing skills I needed to say the least, hindered me.
But it is done. The stitching my look ugly, but it is securely in the tent and is working very well.
For a list of materials I used, head over to Part-1 where I show how I coated the fiberglass:    • Stove Jack and Hot Tent  - Part 1
