A snowmobile ride in southwest Montana turned almost deadly for a Minnesota woman.

NBC Montana talked with Angie Norby to hear her emotional story and check in with the man who helped save her life.

The Norby family expected their trip to West Yellowstone, a world-class destination for snowmobilers, to be the vacation of a lifetime.

"We're all really used to snowmobiles, but a completely different type of snowmobile. We are flatlanders. We ride on flat ground," said Brian Norby, Angie's husband.

On a day with perfect weather, the couple set out for a full day of snowmobiling. But while riding, Angie noticed that she kept making a mistake.

"I was getting a little nervous, because I noticed that when every time I would hit a bump, instead of hitting the brake, I'd end up hitting the gas on the machine," Angie recalled.

That mistake could have been deadly.
