Where are the 10 Largest Hospital In The World? When ranking the hospitals across the globe, several factors come into play. In our today's video, we’ll be considering different hospitals by their respective sizes. Hospitals can be ranked on the basis of their sizes, their structures, or other capacities. Today, however, our focus will be on hospitals with the largest number of bed spaces. In the interest of fairness, we’ve decided to exclude networks, that is, those having several campuses. In some instances, consideration can be given to their staff strengths and their total land areas. But it won't be fair to consider them as individual campuses. We’ve also decided not to include campuses that lack reliable sources on this list of the 10 biggest hospitals in the world.
10. Clinical Centre of Serbia
We’re starting with the University Clinical Centre of Serbia, an academic medical centre in Belgrade, Serbia. The hospital serves as the main medical centre for the city as well as for the rest of Serbia. It’s made up of 41 organisational units, comprised of 23 clinics, 9 centres, polyclinic, and other service units. Also in the hospital complex is the Belgrade School of Medicine side-by-side with the Medical High School. It also has a clinical centre spreading over 34 hectares and it consists of about 50 buildings. They all have a total floor space of 280,000 square metres. The University Clinical Centre makes this list of the 10 largest hospitals in the world specifically for its 3,150 beds, considered to be the largest in Europe. Annually, a million patients are treated while 90,000 are hospitalized. Over 50,000 surgeries are being performed and more than 7,000 childbirths take place. The staff strength of the hospital as of June 2019 was 7,386 employees. Thus, considered by staff strength, it’s also among the largest.
