I love hiking in the Linville Gorge area. It's a location that's relatively accessible, but every time you're there you feel like you've traveled hundreds of miles into the wilderness.

We left the city at 3:00 am and drove through the night to get to the trailhead for this one. We hiked for an hour and a half in the dark, up the side of Table Rock mountain and made it to the summit just in time to see the sun coming up over the horizon.

Our goal for this trip was to hike to the top of Table Rock and then make our way over to The Chimneys, but the path was icy and steep so we decided to save the Chimneys for another day.

This video starts at the edge of the Linville Gorge Wilderness Area at 5:00am, with us hiking west on the Spence Ridge Trail. It wraps up with us hiking on the Mountains to Sea trail, on our way back from Table Rock.
