Hi everyone! Maisie and Maverick’s Mountaineering litter are 1 week old today. They are all super cute, growing and gaining well. At this age they don’t do a whole lot, life is pretty easy- nursing as much as Maisie will let them and then snoozing the rest of the day, usually sprawled out on the heat pad. Other than that, I disturb them just twice a day- to weigh them and do Early Neurological Stimulation. ENS is some simple handling exercises, that put a small amount of stress on the puppy’s nervous system which gives it a jump start by kicking it into action a little earlier than would happen naturally. Tests have shown that puppies that have gone through ENS have a higher tolerance to stress later on. ENS has also shown some awesome health benefits from improved cardiovascular and adrenal health to greater resistance to disease. We perform 5 exercises with the puppies, once a day, from 3 days to 16 days old. So now I will show you what an evening weighing and ENS routine looks like for these guys!
