Описание к видео SOMson Demo 2: Exploring the hidden data behind the U-matrix

SOMson is a sonification of self-organizing maps (SOMs).

What you can see is the U-matrix: The gray level indicates how similar neighboring fields are in terms of the features with which the SOM has been trained.

What you can hear is how similar the fields sound to their neighbors. Instead of summarizing all features to a single attribute (like gray level in the visualization), the sonification indicates the magnitudes of all 4 features with which the SOM has been trained. With some practice, you can hear out which and in how far the 4 features have changed from one field to the next.
