Cambodia's Cham: "Between Modernity and Tradition" (Documentary by Germain Priour)

Описание к видео Cambodia's Cham: "Between Modernity and Tradition" (Documentary by Germain Priour)

The Cham is an ethnic minority group living in parts of Cambodia and southern Vietnam. Its members are considered the descendants of the once-powerful Champa kingdom. The Cham people who live in Cambodia are predominantly Muslim, while those living in Vietnam are mostly Hindu. Today, many of the approximately 600,000 Cham people in Cambodia live along the country’s Mekong River, earning their living through fishing. French filmmaker Germain Priour worked with young Cham (film) students on this documentary, which introduces Cham culture with a special focus on the devastation that the Pol Pot regime brought upon the Cham. The film was part of the Meta House reparation project "The Cham and Pol Pot".
