“Also here today, together with Jordan and other partners, the European Union has offered to support new Palestinian internal security forces to restore order and governance in Gaza. And we will discuss this issue today. For months, Jordan's contribution to address the humanitarian crisis through air and land corridors has been truly remarkable and valued by all. Yet despite the ceasefire agreement, the humanitarian situation continues to demand urgent action. Other priorities that we will be discussing today are the course of Syrian political transition and our shared support to Ukraine's independence and sovereignty.”

7. SOUNDBITE (English) Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission:
“The second point is indeed economic stability. Very important, and therefore our partnership is underpinned by 3 billion euros in the years 25 to 27. There's a lot of good work to do together, a lot of investment. We have together the investment goal of 1.4 billion euros. So we will be working on that one. And I'm very grateful and thankful for the invitation to the investment conference. And I am happy to say that I would be very glad to come. This will be an important milestone in the investment target that we have set ourselves.”

“You have facilitated the delivery of life-saving aid, specifically for the people of Gaza. Here, we really want to thank you. And you have hosted millions of refugees, especially also from Syria. The support of refugees from Syria, the 240 million that we have agreed on for three years, may support your efforts. And at the same time, we're working intensively together to build the conditions for a safe, voluntary, and sustainable return to Syria.”

11. SOUNDBITE (English) Abdullah II, King of Jordan:
“Our partnership continues to be a major positive contributor to efforts to restore stability in the region, to de-escalate tensions and work towards peace. And I know that there are many challenges coming in this year, but I am quite confident with the special friendship, the long-term relationship, that Jordan and the EU will work hand-in-hand in partnership to overcome the challenges of the region and further afield.”
