I asked the government for clarity over future surplus sharing in the Mineworkers Pension Scheme and British Coal Staff Superannuation Scheme, and how we can see a resolution which ends this final injustice to MPS and BCSSS members.

I put the question of future sharing arrangements for scheme surpluses to Chris McDonald MP at the Department of Energy Security and Net Zero personally today, after I wrote a letter to the Minister a few weeks ago.

I asked for clarity, and he provided me with a clear answer. The Minister will be meeting with trustees of the MPS on 4th February and of the BCSSS on the 18th February to discuss the issue of surplus sharing and finally work towards a resolution.
