Finding the Real Vietnam Off the Beaten Path of Dalat

Road trip time! My new friend, Patrick, grew up in the Dalat (Da Lat) area, and wanted to take me and two other foreigners, Ümit and David out to the countryside. We rented motorbikes and drove out to the pine forests surrounding Da Lat, then off the highway through jungle, construction zones, and rice paddies to remote villages. Our destination was a hidden waterfall, tucked deep within the jungle. I wish I could show you how difficult it was to climb up to it: we were literally scaling rock walls using vines! The jounrey was about 14 hours long, but this rare opportunity to see local life without any intervention from the tourist industry was well worth it. Thank you, Patrick!
