(15 May 2017) Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman visited the Yad Vashem Holocaust memorial in Jerusalem on Monday, before attending a meeting with Israeli President Reuven Rivlin.
During the visit Groysman toured the Hall of Names, laying a wreath inside the Hall of Remembrance and rekindling "the Eternal Flame" which burns in memory of those who died during the Holocaust.
In 1941 when Ukraine's capital Kiev was under Nazi occupation, SS troops and local collaborators killed nearly 34,000 Jews over 48 hours at Babi Yar, a ravine located in the city.
During his meeting with Israel's president in Jerusalem, Groysman said his country was facing "unprecedented Russian aggression".
Groysman is expected to go on and meet Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu later on Monday.
A planned visit by the Ukrainian prime minister was cancelled last December after Ukraine voted in favour of a UN Security Council resolution condemning Israeli settlement construction in occupied lands.
