What is Energy?

Energy… we hear or read this word all the time: in the classroom, in scientific papers and text books, in conference, on TV, in movies, in Youtube Videos etc. But what is it exactly?

High School text books indicate that energy is the capacity to do work, and that work is a transfer of energy: Energy is defined by the fact that it can be transferred… To some , it might look like the chicken and the egg problem…

This video attempts to explain what energy is. To do so, we will first get a grasp of the text book definitions with an example in mechanics. Then we will push this definition to the extreme and realize that there is a hidden meaning behind it. As support we will use an example based on thermal physics.
