Time for prepping the deck for power washing. This deck happens to have been dismantled all the boards are removed and sitting in the driveway.

See this brownish copper looking color here is the old stain and that's got to come off. I'll show you what I'm talking about. Now this has gotten worse since I took it off because I just had it leaning up

This is one of the boards that goes on the top of the deck like this and these are in the worst shape and will probably be the only boards that I need to replace.

What I'm going to do is strip and clean it and then take it to the lumber store and have them match it up. The backside looks a lot better. I guess they stained both sides

This is how bad the entire deck was and I honestly didn't know if I was going to be able to save it or not. The is pretty good. Some of these boards I'll flip over

All this dark colored stuff is mildew. After I power wash this and strip it and power wash it you're going to be amazed.

I was flabbergasted. The change gave me hope that I'd be able to save it.

The wood was rotten when you tried to take the boards up. A lot of the nails to stayed in the joists and the boards popped up through and made big holes.

I will use deck screws in those same holes and putty around them if I need.

Obviously I'm not trying to end up with a brand new deck. But what I'm trying to do is end up with a deck that looks a hell of a lot better than the one that.

I've never bought stain like this. So as far as the color goes, you get a color chip or book of color chips. And it's just a guessing game.

They have to mix it once they mix it and especially once you open it it's yours it belongs to you. I've already pretty much picked one out and I'm just gonna try it.

I don't like it what's the worst case scenario just change it next year to something that I do like
