Shetland can offer challenging and dynamic sea conditions, with a big swell from the North Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. The main islands have areas of strong tidal flow, with the channels between Shetland, Yell and Unst flowing at 7 knots, with sections of committing coastline, with limited landing.

The islands form an unspoilt, raw natural beauty with spectacular scenery, impressive tunnels and arches, Geos and golden 'sometimes sheltered' sandy beaches, turquoise seas and diverse wildlife, where the sound of the loon (red-throated and great northern divers) is close by and the satisfaction of being part of real adventure. If the sun shines, it is one of the best sea kayaking locations in the world.
