oil change and got a replacement tire

Last week's tire issue really left me wanting, so I signed up despite it being a 92db day. TR had supply chain issues, but fortunately the tire arrived in the nick of time. Pipes worked just enough to get me below the limit, but I still avoided tracking out too much. Track temps were high again, similar to last week. Down on power with lots of fast drivers in momentum cars made for a fun and challenging day.

Today's focus was improving my entry to mid corner speeds and continuing to work on my brake release. I think I made some progress, but my throttle timing was off all day. I was consistently late in several corners and early in some. Maybe it was due to almost always having cars around me? Oh well, gotta get used to it.

I may have lost a bit of confidence from my recent track days. High temps and other issues have definitely slowed my times down, but my driving just doesn't feel good. I've probably still improved in some aspects, and maybe cooler weather and faster lap times that come with it made me ignore deficiencies in my driving earlier in the year. I'm probably at a point in my journey where big gains are hard to come by, so now it's just trying to make small improvements in the finer details.

On a more positive note, one of the S2K drivers in the group had given me a ride along at Thunderhill almost 2 years ago when I was still very slow. I chatted with him about it since that experience was an eye opener for me at the time. Experiencing what fast feels like without being scared shitless is an easy way to level up.

Next up is Thunderhill East on Labor Day weekend. I expect temps to be in the 90s, but it'll be fun anyway.
