1. Copperplate has more pen lifts while Spencerian can be written more continuously
2. Main slant of Copperplate is 55 degrees, Spencerian is 52 degrees. Spencerian also has a 30 degree connective slant
3. Every downstroke is shaded in Copperplate. Spencerian shading is more sporadic and delicate
4. Strokes in Copperplate tend to overlap/retrace while Spencerian strokes branch away with more negative space in between
