FINALS GAME 2 PREVIEW

Jazz (1-0) vs 76ers (0-1)

Game 1 of the FLBA Finals was a hard fought match for the first 24 minutes, but that all changed when the Jazz came out of the halftime locker room. They immediately pummeled the 76ers to start the 3rd, pushing their 7 point lead to 25 at one point before the end of the period. Utah outscored Philadelphia in the 3rd quarter 30 - 14. While they chipped away at the lead in the 4th quarter, the 76ers' efforts wouldn't be enough at the end, as they fell 112 - 100.

Utah relied heavily on the output of breakout bigman, Tex Armstrong. He poured in 26 points (his highest mark of these playoffs) with incredible efficiency on 13 / 16 FG and dominated the glass with 23 rebounds. While his counterpart, Edwin Kuminga, poured in 44 of his own points, it's the rebounding discrepancy we're focusing on here: +10 for Tex. Tex was one of 3 Jazz who scored 20+, the others being Scot Romero and Howie Carney, who scored 23 and 22 respectively.

The shorthanded 76ers fought hard for the first half but ultimately fell short. We all know that Kuminga will get his points, but the responsibility lies squarely on the rest of the roster's collective shoulders to propel them over the top of Utah to secure this Finals victory. Rickey Richards is the primary player who must come up big in this series if the 76ers hope to win. Now that they're down Pilsner Pete, thanks to his season-ending injury in the Conference Finals, Richards must fill that scoring void. He's known to put up decent numbers every so often, but he had his fair share of stinkers this season. He put in a good effort in Game 1, finishing with 19 points, but it was the stinker put up by Sir Shved that sank Philadelphia's chances in this game. Shved finished with 6 points, 6 assists, and 6 turnovers, on terrible 3 / 10 shooting. For the 76ers to have a chance at winning a game this series, Shved needs to pick it up in a huge way.
