Babies come from warm, dark and cozy environment of the womb to being out in the vastness of the outside world which is so different to what they’re used to!! So it is no wonder that our babies can feel lost and scared during this transition.

As parents, we want to make the transition from womb to outside world easier for our babies and one way to do this is through swaddling.
How does swaddling help?

Swaddling reminds babies of being secure like when they were back in the womb and this is comforting for them.
Swaddling helps to reduce a baby’s startle reflex, which is a sudden jerky movement that can wake them up and give them the feeling of falling.
Babies have involuntary arm movements which can accidentally wake them up, by having baby’s arms snugly tucked in babies are less likely to accidentally wake themselves up.

There are 100 different ways to swaddle your baby and there is no right or wrong way. This technique is a great option for keeping baby’s arms secure by their chest but there is also no extra flaps of material that could potentially move near baby’s face and become a SIDS risk.
