The Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) is facing a significant blow as 150 members have chosen to leave the party and join the New Heritage Party led by opposition leader Chishala Kateka, citing poor leadership and lack of direction under the leadership of president Felix Mutati.

Danny Mikosa who was National Vice Chairman of the party has leveled serious allegations against Mr Mutati, claiming that he has abused his position to silence dissent and consolidate his own power.

And Mr Sam Moyo former MDC Member has cited lack of transparency and accountability.

He states that the MDC has become an institution that operates in the shadows, away from the scrutiny of its members.

Speaking when she welcomed the defectors, New Heritage Party leader, Chishala Kateka says, the influx of new members from MDC is a resounding testament to the correctness and growing appeal of the heritage’s party restoring Zambia’s wealth back to the Zambian people based on patriotic manifesto.

Meanwhile, MDC Media Director, Edmond Miti says the party leadership is not shaken with the decision made by former members.
